Hi! Happy Holiday Cheer! Having a great journey. Wish
you were here.
Of course, you are having your own journey. Is it fun and
challenging? Mine is both. It can be especially trying at this time of year when so many need
help. And you WANT to help, but when demands are high, you feel overwhelmed – even paralyzed –
in the face of all the good that you want to do.
For me, simply shopping and wrapping gifts for my family is a huge
challenge. I would have to mount a snowplow on the front of my wheelchair just to make it
through the crowds – and just try taking scotch tape off a roll and tying a bow with one hand!
That’s right folks-it isn’t easy, I can see you thinking, “How does she get a piece of scotch
tape off a roll?” Well, imagine me sitting down with the roll of scotch tape firmly pressed
between my knees. Bingo! When there’s a will, there’s a way! And tying bows? Thank goodness for
adhesive ones.
Your holiday frustration may be finding enough means to contribute
to all the worthy causes that you wish you could contribute to. Having limited resources is a
type of “paralysis,” but it can be overcome by finding new and different ways to do the good we
want to do in this world.
My presentation coach and good friend, Tom Cantrell in Salt Lake
City, Utah, sent me this touching article he wrote a few Christmas Eves ago. He was settled by
the fire reading “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and there, nestled among the pages of
this classic tale, was a message so powerful yet so beautifully simple that he had to share it
with me – and I now share it with you. So, pull up a chair and join me to sip an eggnog latte
and ...

Thank you, Tom for this message of encouragement. Isn’t it
amazing that even when we feel completely paralyzed – physically, emotionally, spiritually, or
even financially – we can always find a way to achieve important goals? Often it requires no
more than simply re-thinking the problem and re-interpreting the solution. And, if we do so
with the faith that we actually have more power and resources than we ever thought – miracles
happen! Again, thanks for a powerful Christmas message!
Remember, the holidays are a great time to do something special
for someone else. Sometimes the best good we can do, is simply connect with family and friends to
let them know they are remembered and important.
Instead of feeling limited to expensive cards and budget-busting
postage. You can also send warm wishes to those you love through an e-mail. It doesn’t mean
“spamming” with a lengthy Christmas letter.
You can write a brief note expressing love and appreciation. It
takes only minutes and you don’t have to lick, stick and run to the post office or stand in
long lines. Not to mention fighting for a parking spot. Even last minute holiday wishes on
Christmas Eve – or Christmas day – will get there in time!
And finally to all of you, my dear friends scattered throughout the
world, I want to wish you and yours a very happy holiday. Thank you for blessing my life with
purpose and possibilities. I look forward to reconnecting with you in the New Year!
Wishing you the peace of the season,
