Hi! Having a great journey. Wish you were here.

I have never voted before, but I will this year! Kate Adamson holding luggage.

On Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2004, I officially became a United States citizen at the oath ceremony.

It feels wonderful, but it wasn’t easy. I had to first overcome the paralysis that kept me from achieving what I wanted.

Do you ever procrastinate? Do you ever feel paralyzed in not doing something you jolly well know you ought to be doing? Maybe you can relate to a personal story I’d like to share. It has to do with applying the lessons I learned in overcoming physical paralysis to dealing with the real life challenge of becoming a U.S. citizen.

My suggestion … if you are procrastinating and putting something off, take that first step. Start today.
