Having a great journey! Wish you were here. Of course, you are on your own journey. How is it going?
When people suggest that my journey through the dark tunnel of total paralysis must have been a really tough challenge – I agree, and also wonder where they have been paralyzed and maybe didn't even know it. You have heard me say this many times. People who want to do something but just can’t seem to do it are paralyzed – and they need understanding and help, not criticism.
I had plenty of help as I overcame my physical paralysis. I had the focus and attention of a professional staff, dear friends and a fiercely supportive attorney husband to defend my right to live and help me get “un-paralyzed.” They didn’t criticize me, they helped me. Now I am here to help you defend your right to live – really live –– and deal with the paralysis that keeps you from moving to your next level of life and professional accomplishment.
Are there people you love who seem unable to do something really simple that they insist they want to do, but just don’t. What do you think is stopping them? Do you think they feel helpless, confused, overwhelmed and bewildered? Or are they just lazy, stubborn or willful? Does it seem that what you need them to do is so simple that even a child could do it – but for some reason they aren’t getting it done?
That is real paralysis, and it is as frustrating to try to help anyone get through that as it was to help me when I was in the hospital totally paralyzed.
On July 8, I headed to Atlanta for the National Speakers Conference. My teenager, Stephanie, wanted to be my companion. This would be her first NSA youth conference – a wonderful opportunity to learn new things and make new friends. It was also our first trip alone together since my paralysis 10 years ago.

One of the things I love about the speaking business is the difference I’m making in people's lives. I truly feel blessed having met many of you who are now receiving this post card, and I look forward to staying in touch.
Mission accomplished at FEW conference

This past week I was in Reno, Nev., for the FEW (Federally Employed Women) conference. I was an exhibitor and let me tell you, I had a lot of fear about going on the trip.
With one working arm and a gimpy leg, I was wondering how I was going to get everything set-up and manage the booth. But like you, I am constantly meeting new challenges and though scary and new, I’m constantly finding out that I can get through the fear by just doing it! Sound simple? It is...but isn’t easy.
I find that people are only too happy to help if we just ask...it works wonders. (Carol, thank you for loaning me your spare cane; a simple gesture but with all the walking I had to do, that simple gesture made a huge difference!) This past week I met so many wonderful women and I look forward to our paths crossing again.
Are you looking for a dynamic, inspirational speaker?
Give me 45 minutes with your convention audience and your company will never look at problems and challenges – or their solutions – the same way; I guarantee it. I will inspire your corporation to a higher level of productivity and profit by overcoming the paralysis that keeps it where it is.
What is the theme of your conference? What do you want your people to take home with them? Believe me, I will prove that anyone can move to the next level of productivity and profit by focusing on the vision of what they want (not on what they don’t) and what they can do (not on what they can't). Your Human Resources performance management will never be the same – and neither will you.
